Hierarchically structured cobalt oxide ([Co.sub.3][O.sub.4]): The morphology control and its potential in sensors
Article Abstract:
A polyol process is developed to synthesize [Co.sub.3][O.sub.4] with a highly ordered superstructure, where the morphologies of the product are readily tunable by changing the concentration of Co[(C[H.sub.3]COO).sub.2].4[H.sub.2]O. The hierarchically structured cobalt oxide ([Co.sub.3][O.sub.4]) has displayed good sensitivity, remarkable selectivity and high stability as an alcohol sensor.

Selective adsorption of copper Phthalocyanine atop functionalized organic monolayers
Article Abstract:
The adsorption behavior of copper phthalocyanine on the monolayer-modified surfaces and site-selective adsorption was directly observed by STM. It is concluded that the organic molecules could display similar site-selectivity in the adsorption process on the alkane derivative modified HOPG surface.

Interface assembly synthesis of inorganic composite hollow spheres
Article Abstract:
A new facile approach to fabricate the semiconductor composite hollow spheres such as TiO2/CdS on a large scale is discussed. The technique to provide a practical approach to in-situ loading and transporting nanoparticles, functional molecules, drugs, and nucleic acid is presented.
